BRENTWOOD, Tenn.—For the second week in a row, Austin Peay had multiple players earn honors from the Ohio Valley Conference, with junior Terry Taylor sharing his second straight Player of the Week nod from the league and Carlos Paez earning his first Freshman of the Week honor.

Taylor dominated both ends of the floor against South Carolina State last Monday, scoring 25 points on a tidy 11-of-15 shooting, grabbing eight rebounds (four offensive and four defensive) and grabbing two steals while blocking a career-high four shots.

The Bowling Green native moved into 14th all-time in scoring at Austin Peay (1,345 points) and into the top-10 in career blocked shots (75). For Taylor, it’s now the second straight Player of the Week honor from the league, this one shared with Belmont’s Nick Muszynski, and the sixth of his Austin Peay career.

Paez had his most productive outing as a Gov to date, pouring in 17 points and adding two steals in just 16 minutes. He hit a pair of threes but did much of his damage at the free-throw line, going 11-of-12 at the stripe—the most makes by a Gov in a single game since Taylor made 11 in the 2019 OVC quarterfinal against Morehead State.

Paez’s honor marks the third straight Freshman of the Week honor for Austin Peay, after Jordyn Adams had earned the previous two weeks’ worth of accolades. They’re the first Austin Peay teammates since Taylor and Dayton Gumm to earn three straight Freshman of the Week honors.
