BRENTWOOD, Tenn. — Austin Peay sophomore forward Terry Taylor garnered his first OVC Player of the Week honor for the 2018-19 season.

The Bowling Green, Ky. native registered a double-double in all three games last week. He kicked off the week with 21 points and 12 boards against USF to kick off the Jersey Mike’s Jamaica Classic in Tampa.

Upon arriving on the island, he followed that performance with 21 points and a career-high tying 17 boards (and two blocks) against Central Connecticut and closed out his stay in Montego Bay with 17 points, 10 rebounds and a career-high tying three steals against Campbell, earning All-Tournament honors in the process.

For the week, Taylor averaged 19.7 points, 13.0 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 1.0 steals. He hit 51.2 percent (22-of-43) from the floor and 71.4 percent (10-of-14) at the line. Entering play Monday night, Taylor was second nationally with four double-doubles (and was only rebound short against Oakland City), fourth in total rebounds (58) and ninth in offensive rebounds per game (4.8).

After earning five OVC Freshman of the Week honors last season, this is the first full-fledged Player of the Week honor for Taylor and the first award of any kind for the Govs this season.

The three-game whirlwind for the Govs last week leaves Austin Peay with some downtime before its next contest, a Nov. 24 appearance at Ohio.
