Short-handed Rossview stays atop District 10-AAA

By Bryan Williams

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Rossview found itself in a limited capacity in its District 10-AAA game with Kenwood, but it didn’t matter.

Playing without three starters because of illness and injuries, Rosssview blew out Kenwood 52-35 Friday.

The win moved Rossview to 12-1 in 10-AAA and 18-3 overall. Kenwood is 3-9 and 4-16.

Fouls and turnovers kept the game close early with Rossview holding an 8-6 lead after the first quarter. The second quarter was almost a mirror of the first eight minutes with the Lady Hawkins building a 16-12 halftime lead.

But the Lady Hawks started to put the game away in the third quarter with Kayla Gilmore scoring eight of her 17 points in the third quarter. Kenwood struggled with turnovers in the third and Rossview converted those mistakes into easy baskets.

The fourth quarter was a duplicate for Rossview, which quickly pulled away for the 17-point win.
