Golf: Samuels earns berth into state tournament

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Clarksville Academy’s Patton Samuels qualified for the state golf tournament after finishing second in the Division II Class A Middle Tennessee Regional Golf Tournament.

Played at Riverbend Golf Course in Shelbyville Monday, Samuels shot a 72, finishing one shot back of the individual champion.

Franklin Road Academy won the region finishing with a 305 while CPA was second with a 310. Clarksville Academy was fifth with a 327.

Battle Ground Academy’s Duke Waldrop tied Samuels for second with Josh Holtschlag earning low medalist.

Clarksville Academy’s Samuel Nicholson finished with an 80 while Gabe Suiter had an 86. Tyler Thrash shot an 89 and Taylor Norris finished with a 94.

Team scores

FRA 305, CPA 310, University School of Nashville 312, BGA 316, Clarksville Academy 327, Goodpasture 342.
