CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Clarksville National Intermediate 50/70 All Star Team won the Little League Intermediate 50/70 State Tournament at St. Bethlehem Civitan Park on Monday.

The team will now become Team Tennessee and compete in the Southeast Regional Tournament in Kernersville, N.C., July 18-21.

This team, comprised of 12 boys, competed in the district’s 50/70 Little League beginning in June.  They remained undefeated in regular season and district play.

During the state tournament, the team lost their first game by a run, putting them in the loser’s bracket.  CNLL fought back to win against defending state champion, South Jefferson, in the final two games.

Boys ages 11 to 13 are eligible to compete in the 50/70 League.  However, the CNLL team was the youngest team in the tournament.  It is comprised of eight-league age 11-year-olds, three-league age 12-year-olds and one-league age 13-year old.

“This team is really something special,” coach Matt Wallace said. “These boys have a love for the game unlike any I have ever witnessed.  They work hard on the field, but more importantly, they appreciate and support each other off the field.  These boys are something to watch.”

Assistant Coaches for the team are: Frazier Allen, John Gibson and Loren Nebben.

The team consists of: Garrett Allen, Harrison Cassle, Brennan Gibson, Carter Hedrick, Drew Miller, Ben Moore, Porter Murff, Cooper Nebben, Hezekiah Scott, Dawson Smith, Hayden Smith, and Colton Wallace.

“Our 50/70 team will be the first team since the 1990 12-year-old team to compete for a Southeast Regional title,” League president Ben Wallace said.

The SE Region is made up of the top 50/70 teams from Tennessee, Georgia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida. The winner of the SE Region will compete in the Little League 50/70 World Series to be held in Livermore, Calif., July 28- Aug. 4.
