By Bryan Williams

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Clarksville High advanced to the District 10-AAA Tournament semifinals after it beat Northwest 65-37 in the quarterfinal round Friday night.

The Wildcats swept the season series with Vikings, and made sure they were going to continue the trend when they jumped out to a quick start, leading 18-10 after the first quarter.

The Wildcats held the Vikings to five points in the second quarter, as guard Jamarco Mimms scored a transition 3 to put the Wildcats up by 16 with 3:21 left in the second. Mimms could not be stopped as a crossover into the lane for a layup gave the Wildcats a 37-15 lead. Mimms scored nine of his 14 points in the second quarter.

The Wildcats continue their momentum, but at a slower pace, scoring 10 in the third quarter because of foul trouble. Still, they held an 18-point lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Clarksville High continued its run in the fourth quarter, as guard JJ Wheat had five of his 19 points and was the catalyst in the Wildcats’ 28-point lead.
