CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – There isn’t a golf course in Houston County. There’s not even a driving range.

For Houston County’s golf team, it has to drive an hour to its adopted home golf course at Paris Landing.

But Houston County hasn’t allowed the lack of a golf course, driving range, clubhouse or pro shop to prevent it from being a state golf power.

The Irish qualified for the Small School State Golf Tournament last season after winning the district and region tournaments. They could be repeating the trifecta after winning the district tournament GreyStone G0lf Course in Dickson Wednesday.

Houston County shot a 327, finishing one stroke ahead of Stewart County’s 328.

Houston County’s Morgan Robinson was low medalist shooting a 34-36 – 70. Mason Robinson shot an 80, followed by J.R. Stinson’s 83. Daniel Martin finished with a 94 and Dillon Boone had a 97.

Houston County will try to defend its region title and earn an automatic berth into the state tournament when it plays at Montgomery Bell Monday.

The Small School State Tournament will be at WillowBrook Golf Club in Manchester in two weeks.

District Tournament scores

Houston County 327, Stewart County 328, East Robertson 376, Waverly 389, Jo Byrns 399, Harpeth 430, Cheatham County 448.
