Clarksville High Softball

Honoring the Lady Wildcats’ seniors

Clarksville High’s senior class finished 93-19 over three seasons, winning the Waverly Diamond Classic, the Commando Classic and was District 10-AAA regular-season champions three times.

Behind its senior class, Clarksville High won the district tournament during their junior season and qualified for the region tournament each time.

Athlete: Madison Berner

Position: Center field

After-school plans: Will play softball at Austin Peay.

Bio: District 10-AAA Player of the Year, TSCA All-State team, All-Midstate team, four-year starter.

As a freshman, Berner hit three home runs, drove in 15 runs, hit .358 with a .526 on-base percentage, and finished with nine stolen bases.

As a sophomore, Berner had six home runs, four triples, 13 doubles, scored 49 runs and hit .421.

Berner had an on-base percentage of .576 and finished with 32 RBIs and 19 stolen bases.

During her junior season, Berner hit .468, scored 65 runs, drove in 63 runs, six triples and 13 home runs. She also had 13 stolen bases.

Athlete: Madisen Blackwell

Position: Third base/pitcher

After-school plans: Will play softball at Union.

Bio: District 10-AAA Player of the Year. As a freshman, Blackwell had 11 hits and hit one home run. She pitched in six games, with one start while striking out 12.

As a sophomore, Blackwell hit .444 with 39 RBIs, nine doubles, five home runs and won 16 games with 96 strikeouts.

During her junior season, Blackwell hit .372, scored 20 runs, drove in 30 and had nine doubles and four home runs. She won five games with a 0.81 ERA.

Blackwell was one of the Lady Wildcats’ most versatile players and became a dominant player at the plate and on the pitcher’s mound.

Athlete: Madison Haught

Position: Pitcher

After-school plans: Will play at Calhound College, (Ala.).

Bio: As a freshman, Haught, played in three games and had a RBI and run scored. During her sophomore season, Haught, pitched in 20 games and finished with nine saves and struck out 72 batters in 53 innings.

During her junior season, Haught pitched in 23 games, starting 14 games, and had a 15-0 record with five saves. Haught had 96 strikeouts in 94 innings and a 1.11 ERA.

Athlete: Arie Milam

Position: Second base and outfield

After-School plans: Will play at Dyersburg State.

Bio: District 10-AAA team. As a freshman, Milam played in 23 games, scored 15 runs and had four stolen bases.

As a sophomore, Milam started in left field and converted into a slap hitter. She hit .341 with two doubles, 18 runs, 10 RBIs and 10 stolen bases.

As a junior, Milam started at second base and hit .326 with 36 runs, 24 RBIs and hit one home run while stealing 15 bases.

After converting to a slap hitter, Milam moved into the starting lineup and became a a triple treat, turning into a bunt specialist or hitting by swinging away.

Milam was one of the top defensive second basemen in the midstate, using her speed and arm strength to cover a large portion of the infield.
