BRENTWOOD, Tenn.—For the second time in his Austin Peay career, Logan Burchfield earned Ohio Valley Conference Specialist of the Week honors.

The Elizabethton, Tennessee native accounted for 10 of Austin Peay’s 16 points—three field goals and a PAT—in the Governors 24-16 defeat at the hands of 18th-ranked Central Arkansas, Saturday. All 10 of his points came during the second half.

With boots from 39, 32 and 27 yards, Birchfield became the first Govs since Stephen Stansell (2011) with three or more field goals in a game. Through two weeks, Birchfield leads the league in total scoring at 21 points, total field goals (five) and field goal percentage (83.3 percent).

Birchfield is the first Gov to take home a weekly award from the conference office in 2019, and is the first Gov to earn an honor from the league in the season’s second week or earlier since Jeremy Ross earned OVC Defensive Player of the Week honors for Sept. 11, 2010.

Birchfield and the Govs hit the road for the first time in 2019 when they face Mercer, Sept. 14, in Macon.
