Barracudas finish second at Turkey Splash

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Clarksville Area YMCA Barracudas took second place in the YMTSC Turkey Splash swim meet on Nov. 17.

The Barracudas sent 18 swimmers to the event, which was at the Gordon Jewish Community Center in Nashville. The team earned 227 overall points. The Donelson YMCA Dolphins’ 20 swimmers won the meet, earning 351 points. In third place were the Sumner County YMCA’s 20 swimmers, who amassed 192 points.

Ki Drake, 6, earned one first-place ribbon. Madison Moss, 8, earned four first-place ribbons. Calleigh Irwin, 10, earned one first-place ribbon. Jimmy Nemec, 8, earned one first-place ribbon. Millie Prescott, 10, earned one first-place ribbon. Selby Shipley, 14, earned three first-place ribbons. Janey Stevens, 12, earned one first-place ribbon. Hannah Thornhill, 12, earned three first-place ribbons.

The YMCA of Middle Tennessee Swim Club events occur about once a month, year-round. The next meet is scheduled for Dec. 15.

The Clarksville Barracudas are coached by Hannah Oglesbee and Allison Durham; they practice 5-7 p.m. Monday-Thursday at the Clarksville Area YMCA at 260 Hillcrest Drive. Membership is open to YMCA members and non-members. For information, call 931-647-2376.

Ki Drake (6-under boys): first place 25-yard freestyle, fourth place 25-yard backstroke.

Lilly Goodwin (9-10 girls): second place 100-yard individual medley, second place 50-yard freestyle, second place 50-yard breaststroke.

Mark Goodwin (13-14 boys): third place 200-yard individual medley, fourth place 50-yard freestyle.

Beau Graves (9-10 boys): ninth place 50-yard freestyle, sixth place 50-yard breaststroke, fifth place 50-yard backstroke.

Calleigh Irwin (9-10 girls): seventh place 50-yard freestyle, ninth place 50-yard breaststroke, first place 100-yard backstroke.

Kymberleigh Irwin (11-12 girls): fifth place 100-yard individual medley, fifth place 50-yard freestyle, fifth place 50-yard breaststroke, ninth place 50-yard backstroke.

Aubrey McLean (7-8 girls): 12th place 25-yard freestyle, fourth place 25-yard backstroke.

Madison Moss (7-8 girls): first place 100-yard individual medley, first place 25-yard freestyle, first place 25-yard breaststroke, first place 25-yard butterfly.

Jimmy Nemec (7-8 boys): fifth place 25-yard freestyle, first place 25-yard backstroke.

Sadie Outen (open girls): fourth place 50-yard freestyle, third place 100-yard freestyle, seventh place 100-yard breaststroke.

Millie Prescott (9-10 girls): sixth place girls 50-yard open freestyle, fourth place 50-yard freestyle, seventh place 50-yard breaststroke, first place 50-yard backstroke.

Jack Rushing (9-10 boys): sixth place 50-yard freestyle, seventh place 50-yard backstroke, third place 50-yard butterfly.

Alina Sharp (11-12 girls): ninth place 100-yard individual medley, 14th place 50-yard freestyle, 11th place 50-yard breaststroke, 10th place 50-yard backstroke.

Selby Shipley (13-14 girls): first place 50-yard freestyle, second place 50-yard breaststroke, first place 50-yard backstroke, first place 50-yard butterfly.

Janey Stevens (11-12 girls): second place 50-yard breaststroke, first place 100-yard backstroke, fifth place 50-yard butterfly, third place 500-yard freestyle.

Brienne Terrebonne (open girls): third place 50-yard freestyle, second place 100-yard freestyle, sixth place 100-yard breaststroke.

Jonah Terrebonne (7-8 boys): sixth place 25-yard freestyle, sixth place 25-yard backstroke.

Hannah Thornhill (11-12 girls): first place 200-yard open individual medley, second place 100-yard open breast stroke, first place 50-yard backstroke, first place 50-yard butterfly.

The girls 9-10 100-yard medley relay team of Prescott, Lilly Goodwin, Calleigh Irwin and Moss won first place.

The girls open 200-yard medley relay team of Shipley, Thornhill, Stevens and Brienne Terrebonne earned second place.

The girls open 200-yard freestyle relay team of Outen, Kymberleigh Irwin, Sharp and Thornhill earned second place.
