Academy takes third at state golf tourney

Manchester, Tenn. – Clarksville Academy’s boys’ and girls’ golf teams took third place in the Division II Class A state golf tournament at WillowBrook Golf Course Wednesday.

The Cougars shot a 327-313 – 650, tying with University School of Nashville for third.

CAK won the team state title with a two round total of 305-302 – 607. St. George’s finished second with a 308-301 – 609.

A. Jacks Green, from Christ Presbyterian, won the individual championship after shooting a 67-66 – 133. Green finished 11 shots under par.

Clarksville Academy’s Wyatt Samuels finished fifth with a 69-80 – 149. The Cougars also had a strong round from Patton Samuels, who almost swapped rounds with his brother, after shooting a 81-69 – 150.

Clarksville Academy also had Samuel Nicholson (85-80 – 165), Taylor Norris (92-84 – 176) and Bryson Batson (98-111 – 209) playing in the state tournament.

On the girls’ side, Clarksville Academy finished third after shooting a 179-160 – 339.

Franklin Road Academy won the team state title with a 150-151 – 301, Boyd Buchanan was second.

St. George’s Victoria England won the individual state title with a 70-68 – 138.

Clarksville Academy’s Hunter Farrell tied for fourth with a 85-76 – 161. Michaela Dowdy shot a 94-84 – 178.
